Story Time with Story Book Mom!

Nili Yelin aka Story Book Mom will be hosting a storytime every Friday from 11:00am to 11:30am!

“My name is Nili Yelin.  I have combined my professional theatre career with parenting to create The Storybook Mom™.  I introduce young minds to literature using picture books and a blend of poetry, Shakespeare, tongue-twisters, and improvisation.  This interactive, educational and engaging storytelling is what I like to call “sit down-stand up.”  Guided by the principle that children thrive on interactivity, I entertain an audience of dozens of little ones, their parents and caregivers on a daily basis.  They enjoy a fully realized performance of the written word supported by engaging graphics and illustrations from a hand-picked collection of renowned children’s story-books.”

Based in New York, The Storybook Mom™ connects with moms, teachers, librarians and anyone with a passion for words to share her interactive storytelling technique with people across the country. Nili’s goal is to create an experience where families enjoy the spoken word and shared stories in a comfortable and nurturing environment.

After graduating with a theatre degree from Northwestern University, Nili wrote and performed for MTV Networks in New York City and spent 10 years working at NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Since creating Storybook Mom™ in 2000, she’s been voted “Best Children’s Story-teller” by media such as Time Out Chicago and Make It Better Magazine. Nili returned to Chicago this past June to serve as the host of the Children’s Stage at The Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row Lit Fest.  She is also proud to have served as Program Director for Terrific Tales for the non-profit Companies That Care, where she developed the Classroom Library of Books for preschool through 8th Grade, which corporations use to fund school libraries.

Nili is a proud member of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
