Chicago author Renée Rosen appears in conversation at the Harold Washington Library Center with fellow local author Shelby Van Pelt to discuss Rosen's new book, Let's Call Her Barbie.

Her new book, Let's Call Her Barbie, follows the creative rebels behind Barbie, including Ruth Handler, the co-founder of the Barbie company who had a delightful cameo in 2023’s blockbuster film. Ruth herself was a trailblazer, building her own legacy in a workplace hostile to women’s contributions. But much like the iconic doll she created, her tenacity for success took the world by storm

Rosen will be in conversation with Shelby Van Pelt. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Shelby Van Pelt lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her family. Remarkably Bright Creatures is her first novel.

How to Attend:

Doors to the Auditorium open at 5:30 p.m., and seating is first come, first served (350 capacity). Books are available for purchase and the author will autograph books at the conclusion of the program.
