Valya Lupescu/ The Silence of Trees

Tonight, we are thrilled to host the launch party for Valya Lupescu's  The Silence of Trees. In this debut novel,  Lupescu weaves the enchanting story of Nadya Lysenko, a displaced Ukrainian immigrant who must confront her past to feel at home in America.Scotti Cohn, author of More than Petticoats: Remarkable North Carolina Women and Liberty's Children: Stories of Eleven Revolutionary War Children, writes that Lupescu creates “an adventure into worlds of shadow and light, joy, and pain. As a student of Russian language and literature as well as a Tarot reader, I find the setting and characters particularly enchanting and compelling -- in fact, irresistible. The writing flows and draws me deeper with each line. I will be watching for this one on the bookstore shelves.”
