Ted McClelland/ Young Mr. Obama: Chicago and the Making of a Black President

Veteran Chicago-based political journalist Ted McClelland brings his newest book Young Mr. Obama: Chicago and the Making of a Black President to the Book Cellar. In this "engaging overview of the President's early political education," McClelland details how the rough-and-tumble reality of Chicago taught a brilliant but callow young African American politician the lessons that launched him on the road to histoy.  According to the Kirkus Review, "[McClelland] makes the convincing case that President Obama's experiences in his adopted city shaped him profoundly and helped make him the seasoned and formidable politician that he is today."
