Playing in Earnest: a Life of W.H. Auden in Song lecture and performance by Aron Dunlap, PhD with Pauline Sachar

Join us at The Book Cellar for Playing in Earnest: a Life of W.H. Auden in Song lecture and performance by Aron Dunlap, PhD with Pauline Sachar.

In 2013 Aron received a summer fellowship to do research at Oxford University on the life and work of the the poet W.H. Auden. The result was a 50-minute performance that combines Auden lyrics set to original music with an overview of Auden's fascinating life and comments on his poetry. Aron and Pauline have performed this show in bookstores and churches, on college campuses and at artist retreats.

Aron Dunlap and Pauline Sachar are Good Dust. They are also married. When their two young daughters grow up Good Dust will have a rhythm section, but for now the girls dance while Aron sings and plays guitar and harmonica and Pauline adds harmonies and percussion. During the week Pauline teaches English at the Lycée Francais de Chicago and Aron is a professor of liberal arts in the Shimer School of Great Books at North Central College (Naperville, IL). They live in Chicago.

Good Dust has many ways to please you. We can come to your house or coffee shop and offer up an intimate set of original tunes; we can come to your child's birthday party or local farmer's market and get people dancing with traditional covers; or, for you intellectual types, Aron can give his fifty-minute lecture/performance on W.H. Auden.
