HAVE YOU MET NORA? introduces us to a main character that is “passing” as white. It follows a long line of movies/documentaries that deal with colorism including: Little White Lie(documentary 2014), Belle (movie 2013), Skin (movie 2008), The Human Stain (2003), Imitation of Life (movie 1959) - dating back to Pinky (movie 1949). Nora Mackenzie, a socialite and personal-fashion stylist, is set to marry into one of the most powerful and wealthy New York City families. But Nora has a big secret. With her wedding only days away, a former classmate whom Nora betrayed years ago shows up and wants to get even. With a big name to uphold and an even bigger secret to keep, Nora must decide how far she will go to protect the truth.
A bit about Nicole Blades: Nicole covers race in non-fiction pieces such as New York Times/Motherlode, Women's Health, Buzzfeed and Jezebel. She has also co-founded the online magazine SheNetworks, worked as an editor for ESPN and Women’s Health and written for Essence magazine, Cosmopolitan, Health, and SELF. More recently, she can be heard co-hosting her podcast, “Hey, Sis!” Nicole can discuss: *the spectrum of black life as portrayed in literature and on screen: Zinzi Clemmons' “What We Lose,” and on shows like Insecure, Scandal, Empire, Queen Sugar.
