The Book Cellar
The release party for local author Heather Shouse’s book Food Trucks: Dispatches and Stories from the Best Kitchens on Wheels will feature food trucks selling signature items, and the tapping of the limited release Curbside beer—a Belgian saison brewed in collaboration between Shouse and Goose Island head pub brewer Jared Rouben. Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has voiced support for legalizing real-deal food trucks in Chicago (the kind where you can actually cook on the truck as opposed to the curent model, aka roving heat lamps). It is Shouse's hope that this book release party will pull the double-duty as a full fledged food truck summit to demonstrate the demand and insterest from Chicagoans, as well as show the potential for community events that support small, creative independent businesses embracing the mobile eatery model. Come to the Goose Island Brewpub (1800 N. Clyborn) to join the fun.
