The Book Cellar
As of Saturday, March 21st at 5pm, The Book Cellar will be closed until further notice for the health and safety of our customers, staff, neighborhood, and city, per Governor Pritzker's shelter in place executive order for the state of Illinois.
That being said, we do have some good news! We can now ship books directly from our distributor's warehouse to your front door. All you have to do is place your order through our website and select our regular USPS shipping option, then we'll take it from there! This will be the fastest way to get your books moving forward, and the best way to continue to support The Book Cellar.
Now more than ever, it is important to shop locally. As many of you have likely heard, Amazon confirmed that it’s significantly delaying US deliveries of all nonessential items during the coronavirus pandemic. According to product listings on its website, some of these shipments will be delayed by as much as a month. So don’t forget to look to your local shops and vendors! We’re here to help!
Currently, in-store and curbside pickup for all books and booze is no longer available. Unless you have been contacted directly by the store stating otherwise, USPS shipping will be our ordering option for the time being. If you have questions, please email us at email@example.com for a timely response. Please call SuzyT’s cell phone at (773) 988-2419 with questions that cannot be answered by email. We appreciate your patience as response times might be slower than usual due to, well, everything currently going on! If you have attempted to contact us since Illinois's shelter in place took effect, we appreciate your patience as we work to catch up on all the queries we've received.
If you have already been notified that you have books on hold for you in the store, or have paid over the phone for books that are on the way, rest assured that we will keep them safe for you. Someone will be reaching out to you as soon as we can with updates. If you have an unfulfilled order with us, we appreciate your patience as we work on transitioning to an online-only approach, and we're working hard to get you your books. Sit tight, someone will reach out as soon as we can.
If you are looking for ways to support The Book Cellar right now, here are a few things you can do:
The whirlwind of emotions we have experienced this past week is hard to describe. It's our job to deal with words, but it's almost impossible to express how grateful we are to all of you who placed orders, bought gift cards, asked for recommendations, stocked up on wine, promoted us on your social media channels, or left messages of encouragement and support. We truly feel the love you have for your community and for indie bookstores in general.
We know things are changing quickly out there, and we just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for your continued support during these uncertain times. Wherever you're sheltering, stay safe and stay sane out there. It's our firm belief that stories are necessary to manage any uncertainty or crisis.
We are all in this together!
