As 826 Valencia celebrates its fifteenth anniversary, we invite you into our community, our home. Come on in. We're glad you're here. This book should give you a good sense of what we're all about. It encompasses an extraordinary array of writing from students ages six through eighteen, crafted with encouragement and support from our volunteer tutors. We hope you take refuge in our students' kindness and find inspiration in their creativity and strength; we hope you'll join us as we write the next chapter.

In these pages you will find mystery, vulnerability, and brave calls for change. In other words: hope. Hope that we can understand each other's perspectives and strive to improve the world, all the while tapping into our sense of play and imagination. Our young people are writing the future--all we have to do is listen.
