"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" Author Jeff Kinney

That's right. Jeff Kinney, author of the remarkably popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series will be at Book Cellar for a meet-and-greet and signing. While you're here, you can grab a copy (or two-- Holiday Season is almost upon us, y'know) of the latest installment, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel, say hello to Jeff, and get an autograph. How cool is that?

The Kates Outreach Program's Kids' Joke Workshop

Hey, this is cool! We already love The Kates at Book Cellar (you know, they're those funny ladies who take over the store every other weekend), but this promises to be extra special.

From The Kates:

"The kates, the all-female comedy group that performs at the Book Cellar twice a month, is offering a free story- and joke-writing workshop for children ages 8-12 on Saturday, November 10, 10:30 AM to noon. The kates outreach program's goal is to encourage the development of oral, written and listening skills by teaching self-expression through comedy and first person storytelling, further aiming to help strengthen self-confidence, communication skills, a sense of self and support for others. For advance reservations, please email with the names and ages of your child. Walk-ins also welcome."

One more thing. They're an all-female group, but BOYS ARE WELCOME, TOO! We promise they're very nice. In fact, we kinda wish we were 8-12 again.

Coonley Elementary Young Authors

Coonley Elementary hosts its annual "Young Authors Celebration," featuring readings from 6 young student authors. Come see where literature is headed and get that valuable first autograph!

Joke Telling Workshop

Calling all young comics! The Kates, bi-monthly performers at The Book Cellar, will be bringing the funny to children ages 10-14, teaching them the art of joke-telling--what makes a joke and its setup/punchline--at this hour-long workshop.RSVP by emailing more information, check out or find the Kates on Facebook.
