Between the Lines Book Club
As an offshoot of the Afterwords book club we operate in a very similar manner. Meetings are generally held in-store at the Book Cellar on the first Monday of the month.
Prior to our meetings, club members nominate a book they'd like to read, and we all vote on our favorite selection. The person whose book is selected leads our discussion for that book. In an effort to read more diversely, we'll stick to the following calendar rotation:
January: a debut (first month of the year)
February: Black author (Black History Month)
March: woman author (Women's History Moth)
April: Arab author (Arab American Heritage Month)
May: AAPI author (Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month)
June: queer author (Pride Month)
July: disabled author (Disability Pride Month)
August: translated book by woman author (Women in Translation Month)
September: Latine author (National Hispanic Heritage Month)
October: horror/horror adjacent (Halloween)
November: Indigenous author (National Native American Heritage Month)
December: open (something classic, seasonal, festive?)
