Book Cellar Book Club
Join the Book Cellar Book Club as we meet to discuss Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously, by Julia Powell.
In this bestselling memoir, Julie Powell, nearing thirty and trapped in a dead-end secretarial job, resolves to reclaim her life by cooking in the span of a single year, every one of the 524 recipes in Julia Child's legendary "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." Her unexpected reward: not just a newfound respect for calves' livers and aspic, but a new life-lived with gusto.
Remember: Wine and beer are half-off all day on book club days! All are welcome to attend our meetings. In fact, we'd love to see you!

LOCAL AUTHOR NIGHT
Each month we host a showcase of local (or semi-local) authors. It's a great way to discover the literary talent that exists in our city, not to mention an opportunity to meet new people, encounter new books, and enjoy some wine or beer in our cafe.
This month, we welcome Brigid Pasulka, author of A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True (which "reimagines half a century of Polish history through the legacy of one couple's profound love affair") and Andrea Jones, author of Hook and Jill (called a "startling new vision" of the classic Peter Pan and Wendy story.)

Tonight we are pleased to be hosting Josh Neufeld as he presents his book A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge, "a stunning graphic novel that makes plain both the undeniable horrors and humanitarianism triggered by Hurricane Katrina." The book follows six New Orleanians from the hours before Katrina strikes to its aftermath. It has been serialized on smithmag.net.
